Bathinda: A local leader, Sandeep Pathak, has claimed that the recent attack on a businessman here was actually meant for him. He said 35-year-old Lalit Kumar, owner of a sanitary shop, became the victim due to mistaken identity. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal said, “We are working on this case and will confirm the details once the entire case is worked out. 2.8 kg of opium seized

Moga: The Moga police claimed to have seized 2.8 kg of opium from a vehicle during a naka on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, ASI Sukhwinder Singh intercepted a car and arrested accused Jaswinder Singh and Ranjit Singh. A case under the NDPS Act was registered at Moga. Shillong girl found dead in hotel identified

Sriganganagar: The girl, who was found dead after a fire in a room at a hotel in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, last Sunday has been identified, but the mystery shrouding her visit has deepened. Maina Deshmukh (28)had reached a hotel here on Saturday. She gave an Aadhaar card as ID proof. The police said that her photo from the hotel CCTV footage was uploaded on the Netgrid portal of the Union Home Ministry. The face recognition from the portal indicated that she was Maina Deshmukh of Shillong. OC

Govt campaign on drugs, jobs ineffective: BSP

Sangrur: Under its “Punjab Sambhalo” campaign”, the Sangrur unit of the BSP on Sunday held “Jo Zamin Sarkari Hai, Woh Zamin Hamari Hai” rally at the grain market. A large number of BSP members took part in the rally. Punjab BSP president Avtar Singh Karimpuri was among those who addressed the rally. Karimpuri said since March 15, the Punjab BSP had been running the campaign to resolve the issues and challenges being faced by the state in the form of drugs and unemployment.
