Punjab Shocker: Real Estate Dealer Shoots Dead Wife, Son Before Ending Life In Patiala; Police Found Bodies In SUV

Patiala: A shocking incident surfaced from Punjab's Patiala district, where a man allegedly shot dead his wife and a teenage son before ending his life on Sunday. The incident took place near Changera village on Banur-Tepla road. The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Sandeep Singh Rajpal, his wife Mandeep Kaur (42), and their 15-year-old son Abhay.

According to a report by The Times of India, the bodies of the three deceased were found inside a Fortuner SUV which was parked near fields. Workers installing tubewell in the fields informed the police after they found bodies inside the SUV.

Rajpal had been living with his wife and son in Emaar, Sector 109, Mohali for the past six to seven years and was reportedly involved in real estate dealings. After receiving information, senior police officers reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team rushed to the crime scene.

As per the police, the SUV was still on, its AC was working and its doors were closed when they reached the spot. Notably, Rajpal was seated in the driver's seat with his wife sitting in the passenger seat. Meanwhile, the police recovered a pistol from Rajpal's hands, reported TOI.

As per the authorities, Rajpal shot dead his wife and son before killing himself. The police are also investigating other angles. "It appears to be a suicide case, but the motive is still unknown. We are waiting for further inputs from the post-mortem and statements from family members," said DSP Manjit Singh as reported by the media house. The 45-year-old man's son was reportedly not in sound mental health.

One of Rajpal's relatives told the media house that he had talked to him just a week ago and he was not looking disturbed.
