WBJEE 2025 Result Delay: Calcutta High Court's Interim Order On OBC Quota Triggers Uncertainty Among Students
WBJEE 2025 Result: The declaration of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 results has been delayed, putting thousands of aspirants in anxiety and uncertainty regarding their academic future. The postponement is reportedly connected with an ongoing legal issue over OBC-A and OBC-B reservation policies in West Bengal.
More than 1 lakh students from West Bengal and other states appear for the WBJEE every year, which serves as the main entrance exam for undergraduate studies in engineering, pharmacy, technology, and architecture in the state. However, the present uncertainty over the declaration of the result has led to widespread dissatisfaction among students and parents.
The wait follows a Calcutta High Court ruling imposing an interim stay on the implementation of the recent West Bengal government orders on OBC-A and OBC-B category reservations. The division bench of Justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Rajasekhar Mantha ruled that all executive orders issued between May 8 and June 13, 2025, concerning these two categories, would be withheld in suspended till July 31, 2025.
Though the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has not legally confirmed that the legal procedures are responsible for the delay, the association appears probable, as WBJEE results come with category-wise ranking, which influences admissions directly under reserved quotas.
On 15 May, WBJEEB Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty indicated that the announcement of the result might be delayed due to the ongoing legal complexities, but no official statement has since been made public.
Increased Student Outrage on Social Media
Since the other exam counselling procedure has also been initiated at the national level, students appearing for WBJEE 2025 are isolated and worried. Social media has witnessed an outburst of posts from students asking for help and seeking transparency from the board.
One user wrote, “Around 1 lakh students are waiting for the WBJEE results. Everyone is frustrated as counselling has started elsewhere. This delay is affecting our academic plans. Kindly intervene.”
Another student posted, “We sincerely request authorities to urgently resolve the result delay and ease the stress on aspiring students.”
A third added, “WBJEE results are not out yet. The board hasn’t provided any official update. We urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister to look into this matter.”
Yet another tweet read, “WBJEE 2025 results are pending while JOSAA counselling is underway. Thousands of West Bengal students are in limbo. Despite multiple calls, the board remains silent.”
