Bhopal-Delhi Shatabdi Express: Miscreants Pelt Stones On Train Coach Near Gwalior, Break Glass Windows
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal–New Delhi Shatabdi witnessed a rock run after a few miscreants pelted stones near Gwalior on Sunday late evening. The stones hit one of the coach's glass windows, causing panic among the passengers.
According to information, the incident took place between Birla Nagar and Rairu station.
RPF, GRP check the site
Relashia Srivastava, a resident of Govindpur, Gwalior, boarded Shatabdi Express from Gwalior station to New Delhi on Sunday around 8:30pm. Srivastava was seated at the window seat. Frightened by the loud sound as the glass cracked, he and his co-passengers informed the TC.
Shortly, GRP (Government Railway Police) and RPF (Railway Protection Force) searched between Birla Nagar and Rairu to check the entire stretch, but the accused had managed to escape by then.
Statements of passengers recorded
The Indian Railways has initiated an investigating in the incident. Statements of passengers travelling in the affected coach were pelted are being recorded regarding the incident.
Not the first incident
According to officials, this is not the first incident of stone pelting in this area. Earlier, on June 12, a mentally-challenged man allegedly pelted stones near AG Office bridge before Gwalior station on June 12.
Stone pelted on MEMU train
A similar incident was reported on April 24, when a few miscreants pelted stones on a MEMU train travellers from Gwalior to Jaura, vandalising the front glass of the engine.
Since the train had already departed, it was decided that the rake would be replaced after returning from Jaura. Following which, the rake of the MEMU train operating between Gwalior and Etawah was sent to Jaura.
