Tamil Actor Srikanth Accused Of Buying 1 Gm Cocaine For ₹12,000; Arrested In Chennai

Tamil actor Srikanth, known for films like Roja Kootam, was arrested in Chennai on Monday after he tested positive for having consumed drugs. The actor was accused of buying cocaine worth Rs 12,000 in the city.

Srikanth's name cropped up in the investigation after AIADMK functionary, Prasad, was arrested for drug trafficking. He reportedly supplied cocaine to the actor.

The Chennai Police's Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) interrogated the actor and medical tests were also conducted on him, which revealed that he indeed did consume narcotic substances. The cops are now investigating whether Srikanth bought one gram of cocaine for Rs 12,000.

The actor's team is yet to issue an official statement on the fiasco.

How is Prasad connected to Srikanth?

Prasad, who is a member of AIADMK's IT wing, was arrested earlier in connection to a brawl at a private bar in Nungambakkam. He reportedly sold banned narcotics, including cocaine, to Srikanth.

Srikanth reportedly bought the cocaine from Prasad during a party related to the film Theekirai. For those unversed, the film is co-produced by Prasad, with Srikanth in the lead role.
