After Iran fired another barrage of missiles at Israel, retaliatory airstrikes were launched by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), delivering devastating damage to Iranian military infrastructure, according to IDF sources. Airfields were a primary focus for the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on Monday, aiming to secure Iran’s skies from posing any threat to Israeli pilots. Several military installations were struck, including the headquarters of an IRGC-linked militia group, where over a hundred personnel were reportedly eliminated, the IDF claimed.
The Israeli military also confirmed that it targeted roads surrounding Iran’s Fordow nuclear enrichment facility to obstruct access to the site. Earlier in the day, Israel’s Defense Ministry said it had struck several critical targets, including the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran and the security headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Here are five other targets that Israeli fighter jets dropped payloads over in response to Tehran's missile strikes:
- The two access roads leading to the Fordow nuclear facility—which was struck by U.S. B-2 stealth bombers on Saturday—were destroyed by Israeli planes. Tel Aviv explained that the objective was to erase all entrance and exit points to prevent Iran from transporting or removing any materials from the underground facility.
- Israel also claimed to have struck six different airports across the eastern, western, and central regions of Iran. These airfields were reportedly home to F-14, F-5, and AH-1 aircraft of the Islamic Republic. The destruction of the runways makes any aircraft takeoffs virtually impossible. The strikes also damaged underground bunkers and refuelling planes stationed at those locations, according to the IAF.
- The Tharallah headquarters of the IRGC, which is tasked with defending Iran’s capital from internal and external threats, came under fire from Israeli jets. According to The Jerusalem Post, this command is one of the IRGC’s key security hubs in Tehran. The Alborz Corps, which safeguards several cities in the greater Tehran District, was also targeted. However, few details were available regarding the intensity of the attacks or the extent of the damage caused at these sites.
- The headquarters of the Basij militia group—an IRGC-affiliated paramilitary force responsible for internal security, law enforcement, and moral policing—was also bombed, according to Israeli media quoting military sources. Reports claimed that hundreds of IRGC members were killed in these strikes, though exact figures were not specified for individual locations.
- Meanwhile, 15 Israeli Air Force jets were reportedly scrambled to destroy surface-to-surface missile launch and storage facilities in western Iran’s Kermanshah province. According to the IDF, the facility housed launch-ready projectiles aimed at Israeli targets as part of a potential next wave of attacks.
