Now, no police NOC needed for health trade licences in Delhi

Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on Monday said the condition of obtaining a Delhi Police no-objection certificate (NOC) for health trade licences has been scrapped for several business categories, including hotels, restaurants, gaming parlours, auditoriums, amusement parks, and swimming pools.

Addressing a press conference at the Civic Centre along with Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma and Delhi MC Leader of House Pravesh Wahi, the Mayor said this long-pending demand had been fulfilled in line with the BJP’s poll promise of promoting ease of doing business in Delhi.

“The process of securing an NOC from Delhi Police was a time-consuming hurdle that caused unnecessary delays for entrepreneurs. With this requirement now removed, businesses will be able to obtain health trade licenses via a single-window system, saving both time and effort,” said Singh.

He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for supporting the move.

The Mayor said the BJP stood by its commitments and that the focus was to let entrepreneurs concentrate on running their businesses rather than getting stuck in excessive documentation.

“Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has taken bold decisions for reform. I salute her leadership. Our MLAs and councillors are working as a team to improve Delhi,” he added.

The Standing Committee Chairperson also lauded the decision, calling it a “major relief” for those involved in the hospitality industry.

“This change will end ‘inspector raj’ and reduce public harassment. The licensing process via the MC will now be faster, smoother, and more transparent. We are determined to make Delhi clean, efficient, and business-friendly,” she said.

The Leader of House delved into the government’s focus on empowering youngsters and start-ups.

“In line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision, CM Rekha Gupta has removed a key bottleneck. The MC will now issue licenses in a time-bound manner, and officials have been instructed to ensure that no businessman faces trouble,” Wahi said.
