Facebook-parent Meta held talks with Runway before investing in Scale AI: Report

Meta explored acquiring AI video startup Runway before investing $14.3 billion in Scale AI, securing a 49% stake and bringing CEO Alexandr Wang to lead its superintelligence unit. Alongside ScaleAI and Runway, Meta also approached Safe Superintelligence and Perplexity AI, hiring key personnel from Safe Superintelligence.
