Indore's Flea Madness: Bargain, Brushstrokes & Bhool-Bhulaiya

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): If you thought Indore was all about poha and politics, Udan Khatola 2.0 just painted over that notion—literally. Ritik and Shashank, the mad-hatters behind Udte Kabootar, dropped Indore into a glittering canvas of pottery, poetry, pink glitter bars and moon lamps you never knew you needed.

This flea wasn’t just a market—it was a movement. With the “Starry Night” theme glowing across every corner of the venue, over 30 local home-grown brands set up shop and most of them were happily wiped clean by enthusiastic shoppers. There were no sad stalls here—just busy bees, sold-out signs and tote bags bursting with art, incense and indie charm.

Adding hands-on chaos were 10+ DIY corners where kids and adults alike played with pottery, tint-making, resin art, fabric painting and block printing like Picasso on sugar rush. A glitter bar casually turned 2 PM into a disco and tarot cards predicted everyone’s ex-friends is still a bad decision.

The real show-stealers? Three power-packed attractions: Anukrit Saxena of Latent Brush presented Van Gogh in desi mode with a Starry Night twist; Indravati Natya Samiti (INS) stole hearts (and possibly sandals) with their theatre-meets-dance fusion; and Sundowner Live made sure no one left without at least one earworm stuck in their head.

Latent brush: Starry night re-imagined

Anukrit Saxena from Latent Brush showcased abstract artworks inspired by The Starry Night. Co-founded with Arwani Sharma, the duo promotes art through workshops and exhibits. Their installation was emotional and expressive, bringing creativity, colour and some very contemplative head tilts to the flea.

Indravati Natya Samiti: Theatre meets street vibe

INS delivered a lively theatrical performance blending drama, dance and satire. It had just the right dose of energy, rhythm and emotion to get both kids and grandparents clapping. Their act wasn’t just a performance—it was a moment, staged in pure desi style.

Sundowner live: Tunes that took over

A handpicked lineup of indie and local musicians performed back-to-back for eight hours straight. From soulful vocals to foot-tapping rhythms, Sundown live set the perfect vibe. Rain or not, the audience didn’t budge. It was less “background music” and more “main character energy.”

From resin jewellery to tint bars, Udan Khatola 2.0 had more soul than your average Sunday scroll. Kids lost in craft corners, adults found in tote bag printing and a sense of community that smelled of paint and purpose.

Ritik and Shashank, our Kabootar captains, promise that this is just the beginning. “Udan Khatola 3.0? Maybe next we’ll throw in live pigeons and a dance floor,” Shashank said, only half joking. One thing’s for sure—Indore didn’t just shop this weekend. It soared.
