Pune News: Bodies of Government Official & 17-Year-Old Girl Found In Valley; Suicide Suspected
Pune: The bodies of a 40-year-old village talathi and a 17-year-old girl were found at the bottom of a valley in the Junnar area of Pune district. Police suspect that the two may have died by suicide on Tuesday.
Ramchandra Sahebrao Pardhi, a revenue officer posted in Shrigonda, Ahilyanagar district, and Rupali Kuthal, a resident of Junnar tehsil, are believed to have jumped off a cliff in the Ambe-Hatvij area, a police official said, as reported by news agency PTI. Locals raised an alarm after noticing Pardhi’s car parked near the top of the cliff for three to four days.
A pair of slippers found nearby added to their suspicion. A search was launched, and the bodies were discovered about 1,200 feet down in the valley. A rescue team was called to retrieve them.
Police confirmed that both Pardhi and the girl had been reported missing. Ten days earlier, the girl’s family had lodged an abduction complaint with Junnar police, while Pardhi’s wife had filed a missing person’s report at the Topkhana police station in Ahilyanagar. No suicide note has been recovered from the scene. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full circumstances behind the incident.
