UGC NET June 2025 Begins Tomorrow: Check Timings, Key Guidelines, Documents To Carry

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the the UGC NET June 2025 exam from June 25 to June 29, 2025. The national-level test, which determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professorship, and PhD programs in Indian universities, will be held in two shifts each day starting tomorrow.

UGC NET Format And Timings

The UGC NET will follow the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and will be conducted in two shifts daily — 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The exam, which is held twice a year, comprises two papers, both containing only multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and will be held in a single three-hour session without any break.

According to the guidelines, Paper I evaluates the candidate’s teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II focuses on subject-specific knowledge.

  • Paper I: 50 questions, 100 marks
  • Paper II: 100 questions, 200 marks

UGC NET Marking Scheme

There is no negative marking in this exam, which comes as a relief for many test-takers. As per the marking scheme, each correct answer carries two marks, and even if a question is dropped or has multiple correct options, candidates will be awarded full marks if they attempt any of the correct ones.

Mandatory Documents and Entry Guidelines

Candidates must adhere strictly to the reporting schedule and bring the necessary documents. Entry to the exam centre will not be allowed once the exam begins, so punctuality is non-negotiable. According to NTA, candidates must carry:

  • Printed copy of the UGC NET June 2025 admit card
  • Valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License)
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded in the application form)

Students are also required to sit at their assigned seats and must immediately report any discrepancies in the subject paper to the exam authorities.

UGC NET Dress Code And Conduct Rules

The NTA has put in place a strict dress code for the exam. Students are advised not to wear accessories, including caps, scarves, or sunglasses, or carry any prohibited items. Electronic gadgets, calculators, and study materials are also strictly prohibited.

The detailed address and reporting time for each candidate is mentioned on the admit card, which must be carried without fail.

Candidates are also encouraged to remain calm, reach the venue early, and strictly follow instructions for a hassle-free exam experience.
