TN Widens Drug Probe, Actor Krishna On The Run After Srikanth’s Arrest; Land Grab, Job Racket Also Exposed
The Tamil film industry finds itself under intensifying scrutiny as another actor, Krishna, has reportedly gone missing amid a widening drug investigation that recently led to the arrest of actor Srikanth. Krishna has gone off the radar after his name surfaced in the case, with authorities suspecting he is currently hiding in Kerala.
Police have formed a five-member special team to trace the absconding actor, who has reportedly switched off his phone and failed to respond to summons for questioning, reported Times of India.
Srikanth’s Arrest Shakes Kollywood
The controversy exploded with the arrest of actor Srikanth, once a household name in Tamil cinema. He was remanded to Puzhal Central Prison until July 7 after investigators recovered one gram of cocaine and seven empty packets from his residence during a raid.
Srikanth’s arrest has not only rocked the film fraternity but also opened the floodgates into what appears to be a larger drug and crime nexus involving celebrities, peddlers, and political links.
Probe Origin: A Brawl That Opened A Pandora’s Box
The chain of events began on May 22, when a brawl between two rival groups at a popular nightclub led to the arrest of eight individuals. One of them, Prasad who was then an AIADMK member, turned out to be a key link in the unfolding investigation, reported Times of India.
A search of Prasad’s residence uncovered records of a job recruitment scam worth Rs 2 crore. He allegedly duped over 200 job aspirants, charging sums between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, falsely promising placements in the TNPSC, Railways, Income Tax Department, Chennai Corporation, and other government bodies.
Drugs, Scams & Celebrity Parties
According to investigators, Prasad, aided by an associate named Pradeep and a Ghana-based contact known as John, also ran a cocaine distribution ring, as per reports. The group allegedly hosted exclusive drug parties that drew in high-profile attendees, including actors.
Another suspect, Ajay Vandaiyar, is under the scanner for his alleged involvement in both the drug racket and land grabbing operations.
