Leaky Roofs Force Closure Of Anganwadis In MP’s Barwani, Disrupting Education For Dozens
Pansemal (Madhya Pradesh): The leaking roofs at many Anganwadis in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district have led to their closures, which has severely impacted children’s education in the region.
The School Falia and Chaudhary Falia areas in Sakrali Bujurg village, the persistent roof leaks have created unsafe and unhygienic conditions for the children.
Condition to worsen with monsoon
The situation is expected to worsen with the onset of the monsoon and the alleged negligence of the concerned officials and public representatives.
According to Anganwadi worker Kashi Patel, 37 registered children at the School Falia centre were sent home early because of water-soaked floors.
Similar problems affected Chaudhary Falia Anganwadi, where worker Sarla Barde and assistant Anita Patel manage 35–40 children in a 15-year-old building with persistent roof leaks.
However, they were also sent back due to unfavourable conditions.
Buildings to be replaced
After discussions with project officer Magan Singh Kanel and supervisor Suryavanshi, a temporary solution was arranged to relocate children to alternative buildings in villages with severely damaged Anganwadi structures.
Sarpanch Uday Singh Chauhan assured residents that the gram panchayat has requested the necessary repair materials. Local residents have submitted formal complaints seeking immediate intervention to restore proper learning conditions for their children before the situation worsens further.
