According to the information, three lanes have been made at the railway station for the entry of any private vehicle or cab into the station premises, in which only the facility of alighting or boarding passengers will be available. All vehicles coming to drop or pick up passengers will not have to pay any fee for the first eight minutes.

Indian Railways New Rules: A new fee has been imposed on vehicles coming to New Delhi Railway Station for pick-up and drop-off. This increased fee is going to be very heavy on the pockets of common people. According to the official information of Northern Railway, the purpose of this system to be implemented on the Ajmeri Gate side of the station is to reduce the problem of jam at the station, control the crowd and help speed up the pickup and drop-off process of passengers.

According to the information, three lanes have been made at the railway station for the entry of any private vehicle or cab into the station premises, in which there will be facility to drop or pick up passengers only. All vehicles coming to drop or pick up passengers will not have to pay any fee for the first eight minutes, but if there is a delay of more than eight minutes, then that delay is going to be heavy on the pocket.

It has been told that if you leave between 8 minutes to 15 minutes, then a fee of 50 rupees will be charged, between 15 minutes to 30 minutes, a fee of 200 rupees will be charged and if you stay for more than 30 minutes, then a fee of 500 rupees will be charged. In response to a question, it has been told that vehicles coming to pick up passengers will have to be parked in general or VIP parking and will have to leave after paying the prescribed fee as per the parking time limit.

Sources said earlier commercial vehicles were charged for pickup and drop without any time limit. Now, all vehicles have the exemption for the first eight minutes. If commercial vehicles drop the passenger and leave within eight minutes, they will not have to pay any fee.

When asked what will happen if someone comes with heavy luggage or an elderly passenger and is unable to leave within eight minutes, official sources said that in such cases, where it may take more than eight minutes, passengers will have to pay additional fee as per the slab. The option of general or VIP parking is also available for which the prescribed parking fee will have to be paid.

This fee system of the railways has not received a positive response from the general public. People believe that the initial limit of eight minutes is very less. In a similar system implemented at other stations, there is often a delay in exit due to the crowd of vehicles at the toll gate and one has to pay unnecessary money. People say that the eight-minute limit should be increased to 15 minutes and the 15-minute limit to 30 minutes. Similarly, the limit of 30 minutes should be increased to at least 45 minutes.
