Majithia framed, says Ghuman; warns of state-wide agitation
Following the arrest of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia by the Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday, Akali leader Parupkar Singh Ghuman reacted strongly, claiming that the arrest was an act of political vendetta.
Ghuman alleged that despite knowing Majithia is innocent, Punjab Police officials acted like puppets of the ruling government and arrested him under false charges.
“The SAD leadership fully stands with Majithia, who has been arrested in a fake case. If the ruling government continues to harass him and does not withdraw the case, Akalis in large numbers will take to the streets and launch a state-wide agitation,” said Ghuman.
He also issued a stern warning to police officers allegedly acting under the ruling party’s influence, stating, “The officers who played a role in falsely implicating Majithia will not be spared and will have to answer in court in the future.”
Ghuman further stated that the Akali Dal’s legal team would expose the ruling party’s alleged misuse of power in court and prove that the arrest was politically motivated. “We will prove that Majithia’s arrest is purely an act of political vendetta,” he added.
