Suryakumar Yadav Undergoes Surgery For Sports Hernia In Germany, Shares Update From Hospital
Team India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav successfully underwent surgery for a sports hernia in Germany. SKY provided an update on his social media handle by sharing a photo of his post-operation. He captioned the post," Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I’m already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back"
This is the second time in two years that the Mumbaikar will undergo a sports hernia surgery. He underwent one last year (Jan 2024) in Munich. He also underwent an ankle surgery in Dec 2023.
Whats next for Suryakumar Yadav?
The Indian cricket team is currently touring England, and following the five match Tets series, the Men in Blue will be travellingto Bangladesh for ODI & T20 series. in August. The first T20 will be on 26th and the last on 31st August. His availability for the T20I series away to Bangladesh is also under question as the recovery time after a sports hernia operation is 6 to 12 weeks.
The next big event in T20 is February next year, the T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March. A total of 20 teams will play in it. Surya will lead Team India in this World Cup.
Before the operation, Suryakumar last played in IPL 2025 and Mumbai T20 League. In IPL SKY scored 717 runs in 16 innings, which included 5 half-century innings. Surya has been an important part of the MI team since 2018. He made his IPL debut for this franchise in 2012 but after that he played for KKR for 4 years.
