WATCH: Over 2 Dozen Masked Men Attack Satna Toll Plaza Over Payment; 12 Staffers Injured, Cabin Vandalised

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A chaos erupted in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh after around 24 masked men refused to pay toll tax and attacked the Odhaki Toll Plaza.

The incident took place under Rampur Baghelan police station limit around 7:30 pm on Wednesday and was caught on CCTV. The footage is doing rounds on social media on Thursday.

According to information, a group of men arrived at the toll plaza in a car and refused to pay the toll tax, which lead to a heated argument.

Accused returned with arms

After an argument with the staff, they eventually paid the toll and left. However, about an hour later, over 2 dozen masked men returned on 15 motorcycles, armed with sticks and weapons.

They assaulted the toll staff, chased and beat them. They also vandalized the toll plaza's cabin and office. Computers and other equipment were damaged.

Around a dozen staff members were injured in the incident. Some passersby tried to chase the attackers as they fled.

The mayhem continued for nearly 30 minutes, after which they escaped on bikes without number plates.

The entire act was recorded on the toll plaza’s CCTV. Toll plaza manager has filed a complaint at the local police station.

'Such incidents common at Toll Plaza'

According to police, some suspects have been identified as residents of Tyondhari and Ahirgaon.

Police have registered a case and are actively searching for the culprits at present. However, as all attackers wore masks, no one has been officially identified yet.

Meanwhile, some local villagers claimed that the toll staff often misbehave with them and forcefully collect tolls from nearby residents. They added that such disputes are common at the toll plaza. Police suspect the attackers might also be local villagers.

The investigation is ongoing.
