Mumbai News: ACB Arrests 35-Year-Old Dadar Traffic Constable For Accepting ₹3000 Bribe From Helmetless Biker
Mumbai: The Mumbai Unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a traffic police constable posted with Dadar Traffic Division for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a traffic rules offender. The accused traffic police constable has been identified as Vinayak Rathod (35).
According to the ACB, traffic constable Vinayak Rathod had intercepted a biker who was riding without helmet early morning on Thursday. Constable told the complainant that he would have to pay a fine of Rs 10500.
He later told the complainant that if he do not wish to pay the fine, then he would have to pay a bribe of Rs 5000. The bribe amount was later negotiated and settled for Rs 3000. The constable also unauthorisedly kept the complainant's bike with him and asked the complainant to arrange the bribe money.
The complainant who did not wish to pay the bribe approached the ACB after which a trap was laid and accused constable was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant. He has been booked and arrested under the relevant section of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
