Telangana will partner with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to translate its vision of ‘Rising Telangana 2047’ into an actionable programme.
“I greatly valued the opportunity to hear directly from you about the Rising Telangana Vision 2047 and was genuinely impressed by its clarity and ambition," wrote Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister to Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy.
He added that the institute will explore practical ways in which his institute can “help translate these priorities into tangible outcomes for the people of Telangana.”
Blair said that the India director of the institute, Vivek Agarwal will take the association forward.
The ambitious ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ is a pet project of the CM. During a recent meeting in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy presented a detailed roadmap for the state to evolve from its current $200 billion base to $1 trillion by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047. The blueprint, which will be unveiled publicly on December 9, 2025, focuses sharply on social and economic upliftment across the state.
At the core of the presentation was a new approach to microplanning which includes zoning the state into distinct zones of core-urban, peri-urban and rural zones for services, manufacturing and urbanisation.
The master plan includes massive infrastructure projects such as the Regional Ring Road, radial connections between Ring Roads, a dedicated dry port with connectivity to an Andhra Pradesh seaport, a sprawling Bharat Future City, and a revitalised Musi River.
The detailed presentation also showcased upcoming airports at Warangal and Adilabad, an expanded Hyderabad metro and dedicated facilities like the Young India Skills and Sports Universities also feature prominently.
A letter of Intent has already been exchanged between both parties.
The move has also invited criticism from the opposition corner. M Krishank, official spokesperson of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), questioned the rationale behind hiring a global consultant known for charging exhorting fees when the state was mired in financial distress. He also pointed out the controversies surrounding the institute in the geo-political arena.
