Sirsa couple caught with ₹12 lakh heroin, cash, SUV
In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Sirsa Police on Wednesday arrested a couple near Bharat Nagar and seized 129 grams of heroin worth approximately Rs 12 lakh, along with Rs 2.2 lakh in cash and an SUV.
The accused have been identified as Monu and his wife Kanika, residents of Madhosinghana village in the district. The arrests were made during a patrolling and checking operation based on specific intelligence inputs.
“Following the recovery, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sirsa City Police Station,” said Sub-Inspector Rajendra Kumar, who heads the ANC team.
He said the couple will be produced in court soon and the police will seek custodial remand to further investigate the network.
“We are working to identify the supply chain and other people involved in this drug trafficking network,” said SI Kumar.
