AGI Open Swimming Championship begins with zeal, community support
The AGI Open Swimming Championship commenced with great enthusiasm at the swimming pool of Jalandhar Heights 2, located on 66 ft Road.
On the opening day, 29 young swimmers competed in the under-15 category, receiving loud cheers from a large crowd of residents from Jalandhar Heights 1 and 2, along with families and siblings of the participants.
The event was formally inaugurated by General Arun Khanna, Chief Administrative Officer of AGI, who lauded the initiative taken by AGI Sports Institute of India, a subsidiary of AGI Infra Limited. He expressed his gratitude to Sukhdev Singh, Managing Director of AGI Infra, for his continued support in promoting sports among the youth.
Calling it a mission to steer the younger generation away from modern-day vices like drug abuse, he emphasised that sports provide a positive and disciplined outlet for energy and talent.
Surinder Bhambri, Managing Director of the AGI Sports Institute, also acknowledged the support of AGI Infra Limited in sponsoring various sports, including cricket, football, and swimming. He highlighted that such consistent backing is essential for nurturing future champions and fostering a healthier society.
On the first day of the championship, six heats of the 50-meter freestyle competition were conducted. In the first heat, Rohan secured first place, followed by Suhaan. The second heat saw Aakarsh take the lead, with Dhairya in second. Aarav Chawla won the third heat, with Arsh coming second and Jagrav third. The fourth heat was won by Shivansh, with Niketan securing second place. Aditya emerged victorious in the fifth heat, while Aarav and Atharva shared the second position. In the sixth and final heat of the day, Lovish claimed the top spot, followed by Ansh and Ryan in second and third places, respectively.
The championship will continue in the coming days, with more young swimmers set to dive in and compete with full enthusiasm, making the event a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and talent.
