A tightrope walk for Chittoor’s mango farmers
Mango farmers in Chittoor, which registered a bumper yield of over 10 lakh tonnes this season, are staring at massive losses as they are forced to sell their produce for a meagre ₹4 a kg, far from the government mandated ₹8, owing to delayed procurement by pulp-making units in the district.
