‘Border 2’: FWICE urges Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh to halt shoot at the NDA over Diljit Dosanjh involvement

Earlier this week, FWICE sent a letter to the producers of Border 2—J.P. Films and T Series—calling their decision to cast Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in their film a “blatant violation” of their directive to ban him due to his “unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress”.
The film union was referring to the casting of Hania Aamir in his film Sardaar Ji 3. Now, FWICE has extended its efforts by reaching out to India’s Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding the filming of Border 2.

In a letter addressed to the ministers, FWICE said that Dosanjh “deeply disrespected Indian sentiments” in his association with the Pakistani actress and also accused the actor of “participating in projects filmed in sensitive border locations like Pahalgam immediately following terror incidents targeting our armed forces."
FWICE further pointed out that the filming of Border 2 is currently being held at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune. “The NDA, being a national symbol of military training and sacrifice, must not be used as a backdrop for a film involving an actor who is currently under public and professional boycott due to acts that undermine the spirit of national unity and hurt the sentiments of our defence community," the letter stated.

Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3 has faced backlash from FWICE and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA). Both unions have requested the removal of Punjabi singer-actor Dosanjh from industry circles. FWICE also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to revoke Dosanjh’s passport and strip him of any rights that come with the Indian citizenship.
