‘Harassed’ by youth, girl jumps to death in canal
After being allegedly harassed by a youth, a 17-year-old girl allegedly ended her life by jumping into a canal near Maur today.
Sources said the girl used to travel daily from her village to Maur for computer classes. She was reportedly being harassed by the youth for the past few days. Upset by the continuous harassment, the girl jumped into the nearby canal today, ending her life.
Inspector Tarandeep Singh, SHO, Maur police station, said the body was recovered and sent to the Civil Hospital, Talwandi Sabo, for post-mortem.
“A case has been registered against Inderpreet Singh of Talwandi Sabo, and efforts are afoot to arrest him,” said the SHO.
