Warring flags plight of families with sons missing in Russia

Jagdeep Kumar, a resident of Goraya in Punjab and the brother of Mandeep Kumar — who has been missing in Russia for over a year — met Punjab Congress president Raja Warring today in New Delhi. Warring during a press conference, highlighted the distressing plight of the families whose loved ones remain untraceable in Russia.

Jagdeep, who has been actively searching for his brother, revealed that he last spoke with Mandeep on March 3, 2024. Since then, all communication has ceased, leaving the family in a state of anguish. “No one can understand what my family is going through," said an emotional Jagdeep. He had travelled to Russia in hope of finding some information about his brother’s whereabouts.

He also said he had made repeated visits to the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi, but still doesn’t have any information regarding his brother . “I have gone to the ministry several times. We are losing hope," he said.

Warring, expressing concern over the matter, said, “This is not just the story of Jagdeep. There are several families who are living in torment because their sons have been missing in Russia for over a year now," he said during the press conference.

The incident sheds light on cases involving Indians who are believed to be stranded or missing under uncertain circumstances in Russia. With little or no official updates, families are left in the dark.

As the situation drags on, Jagdeep and many others like him continue their desperate search.
