‘Donald Trump should put aside disrespectful …, if he wants a deal’: Iran

Tehran: In the latest development in the Iran-Israel ceasefire, Tehran took a potshot at United States President Donald Trump, stating that he should put aside his “disrespectful tone” towards the Middle Eastern country’s Supreme Leader Khamenei if the US wants to have any kind of deal with Iran.

Reiterating that Iran does not take any kind of threats and insults lightly, Iran FM Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that his country would not hesitate to unveil its real capabilities. “If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran’s Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt followers,” the Minister wrote on X.

Araghchi said that Iran would never allow any country or leader to decide its fate.

“The complexity and tenacity of Iranians are famously known in our magnificent carpets, woven through countless hours of hard work and patience. But as a people, our basic premise is very simple and straightforward: we know our worth, value our independence, and never allow anyone else to decide our destiny,” he said.

The post praised the strength and resolve of the Iranian people, claiming they had shown the world that Israel had no option but to seek US protection to avoid major damage from Iran’s missile strikes. It warned that Iran does not respond well to threats or insults, and if others act on dangerous illusions, Iran is fully prepared to reveal its true military strength—something that would end any doubts about the nation’s power. The statement concluded with a softer note: goodwill brings goodwill, and respect earns respect.

The remarks come against the backdrop of the US hinting at possible talks with Iran. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Thursday that the Trump administration prioritises diplomatic efforts and peace in its dealings with Iran, maintaining ongoing communication with Iranian officials.

“I spoke to our special envoy Witkoff at length this morning and I can assure all of you we continue to be in close communication with the Iranians and through our intermediaries as well, namely the Qataris, who have been an incredible ally and partner throughout this entire effort. As I said, this administration is always focused on diplomacy and peace, and we want to ensure we can get to a place where Iran agrees to a non-enrichment civil nuclear program,” Leavitt said.

The statement came after America launched precision strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites during Operation ‘Midnight Hammer’.
