Madhya Pradesh: New Aviation Policy Rules Being Finalised
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The aviation department is busy giving final touches to the rules and guidelines of the new aviation policy. Once the rules are framed, the department will decide how much subsidy should be given to the airlines for operation of their new flights, establishment of crew training schools and starting maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) units etc.
Sources in the aviation department said that the rules and guidelines of the new aviation policy were almost ready and getting a final touch. Following this, discussion would be held on the realization of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Global Investors Summit (GIS) meeting held here in February, and other things related to the aviation sector.
To note, the department came up with its new policy to boost the aviation sector during the GIS.
A senior officer of the aviation department said that the rules and guidelines would specify how things would get started and reach their final stage. For example, the rules will specify what kind of subsidy and facilities would be provided if any airline or investor wanted to come up with a pilot training school.
As for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) units, Madhya Pradesh is attracting the attention of major aviation players. The MRO facility envisages component manufacturing, CND checks and engine repair.
In April, Michael Howell, managing partner of Germany- based In Avia Aviation met CM Mohan Yadav and expressed the desire to set up an MRO facility in the state. The initial investment is likely to be of ₹500 crore and later it will be extended to ₹2000 crore.
Another reputed company has shown keen interest in setting up an MRO facility. Interestingly, both companies want to come up with MRO units near Raja Bhoj airport. Another aviation officer said that once rules and guidelines of the new policy were framed, it could be decided easily if subsidies or incentives to airlines should be given monthly or yearly.
