Mumbai Crime News: Two Mathadi Kamgar Arrested For Extorting ₹22,000 At Construction Site; Third Accused Absconding
The Agripada police have arrested two Mathadi Kamgar on June 28 in connection with an alleged extortion case. The accused have been identified as Harish Dingbar Jawalekar,29 and Chhabilal Muftar Yadav,32. Police are currently on the lookout for a third accomplice, Govind Yadav.
According to the police, the complainant, Vitthal Ninu Gurav,40, also a Mathadi Kamgar and a resident of Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, had arrived at Omkar Construction site near Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat in Mumbai to unload goods from four trucks.
The accused—Jawalekar, Chhabilal, and Govind—allegedly demanded ₹22,000 for unloading the four trucks. They reportedly threatened to obstruct the unloading if the payment was not made and ultimately forced Gurav to pay the amount.
Following Gurav’s complaint, Agripada Police registered a case of extortion and arrested Jawalekar from Shantinagar, G.R. Boricha Marg, Mumbai and Yadav from Vasai, and also recovered the extorted amount.
Police records show that Jawalekar has prior cases registered against him at Kalwa and N.M. Joshi Marg police stations, while Chhabilal is already facing a case at Agripada Police Station.
