SAI organises cycle rally in Kurukshetra

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Kurukshetra organised a cycle rally on Sunday as part of the Fit India Movement’s flagship initiative, Sundays on Cycle.

Vinod Garg, member of the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committee, said on the occasion that every individual should incorporate cycling into their daily routine. “A person who cycles daily will always remain healthy and for the nation’s progress, it is vital for every citizen to be in good health,” he said.

The event was attended by Assistant Director of the Sports Authority of India Babu Ram Rawal, District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar, former District Sports Officer Yashveer Singh and former Hockey Chief Coach Gurvinder Singh.

More than 35 cyclists took part in the rally, which began at the SAI Centre and passed through several locations, including Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, Circuit House and Jindal Chowk, before concluding at the starting point.

Garg, who flagged off the rally, said that to implement the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sports Authority of India is organising cycle rallies under the Fit India Movement. “If every citizen looks after their health and embraces cycling and other sports, they will remain healthy and thus contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation,” he added.

Assistant Director Babu Ram Rawal remarked that the SAI is making dedicated efforts to engage the younger generation in sports and steer them away from harmful influences such as drug addiction.

District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar said that the cycle rallies being organised under the Fit India campaign have been receiving enthusiastic participation from youth. “More such rallies will be conducted in the coming days,” he said.
