Uttarakhand News: Char Dham Yatra Begins, Statewide Alert Issued to All District Magistrates

The sacred Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has officially commenced, marking the start of the annual pilgrimage to the holy shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. With thousands of devotees expected to visit the Himalayan temples, the state administration has sprung into action to ensure smooth and safe travel.Instructions have been issued to District Magistrates (DMs) of all 13 districts by the Uttarakhand government, emphasizing preparedness in view of unpredictable weather and increasing pilgrim footfall. Strict monitoring of route conditions, arrangement of basic facilities like water, food, and medical aid, and real-time traffic regulation have been prioritized.Given the heavy rainfall and landslide risks in the region, disaster management teams, health units, and rescue forces have been placed on high alert. Devotees have also been advised to register in advance and check daily weather updates before commencing their journey.The Char Dham Yatra is not only a spiritual journey but also crucial to Uttarakhand’s tourism economy. Authorities are ensuring the balance of faith, safety, and infrastructure as this auspicious season begins.
