The UAE will experience extreme heat after the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) predicts temperature to range between 44°C and 49°C. The Gulf nation will also see partly cloudy skies, the Met agency said.
The temperature in coastal areas and islands will be between 37°C and 42°C, resulting in significant heat. Mountainous regions will see temperatures between 32°C and 38°C, Gulf News quoted the NCM.
The weather agency also predicts cloudy skies at times and humid conditions, especially in coastal regions. The cloudy skies could result in rain and hail.
Light to moderate winds at speeds of 10 to 20 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 35 km/h, will blow from southwest to northwest. Thanks to the Al-Bawarih winds that will continue to be active at intervals due to surface pressure differences between the north and south of the Arabian Peninsula, northwesterly winds will gain strength, stirring up dust and dust waves.
Meanwhile, the four-day workweek system will come in place for government employees from July 1 as part of 'Our Flexible Summer' initiative. The system, which will be until September 12, is aimed at better work-life balance and productivity.
As per the system, employees will be divided into two groups, with the first group expected to work eight hours from Monday to Thursday and enjoy Friday as a full holiday. Meanwhile, the second group will work seven hours from Monday to Thursday and 4.5 hours on Friday.
Last year too, the Dubai government announced such a system for government employees.
As per the latest weather forecast, an upper air pressure system will exist over Arabia Gulf states which will push temperatures to mid-forties Celcius across the Gulf countries.
