Mukund Olety steps into CCO role at WPP Europe

Mukund Olety has stepped down from his role as Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at VML India. He announced the move via a LinkedIn post, where he reflected on his time with the agency and shared details of his next position.
As CCO, Olety was responsible for leading VML India’s overall creative direction, providing strategic and creative guidance to clients, and mentoring talent across the agency. He also played a key role in managing relationships with clients, industry peers, and media partners.
In his post, Olety described his tenure at VML as “nothing short of incredible,” referencing the agency’s Cannes Lions Grand Prix win and various other projects. He thanked his team and senior leadership, including Kalpesh Patankar, who will now lead creative operations at VML India.
Olety will remain within the WPP network and take on a new role as part of the group’s creative leadership for The Coca-Cola Company in Europe. He called the move a "dream role" and expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Before joining VML, Olety worked at BBDO China, where he led creative teams on accounts such as Mars Wrigley, Visa, and Volkswagen. His career spans nearly two decades and includes stints at agencies like Leo Burnett Malaysia, O&M India, JWT, DDB Mudra, and others. He has worked on brands including Mercedes, McDonald’s, Samsung, Unilever, and Nike, and has served on international award juries and mentorship programs such as One Club.
