One from Odisha among Eight Killed in Reactor Blast at Chemical Factory in Telangana

Hyderabad: At least eight workers, including one from Odisha, were killed and 28 others injured in a massive reactor blast at Sigachi Chemicals in Pashamylaram near Hyderabad on Monday.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the industrial area of Sangareddy district, Telangana.
The explosion triggered a massive fire that engulfed the factory premises. Firefighters, managed to control the flames.
Among the deceased was Nagarjit Tiwari from Odisha, who succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Madinguda. Five workers died on the spot, while three others, including Tiwari, passed away in hospitals, as per reports.
A total of 66 workers, including migrant workers from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, were present at the factory during the explosion. The injured were rushed to various hospitals, with five in critical condition. The blast was so powerful that workers were thrown several meters, and the manufacturing unit collapsed, with fire spreading to adjacent buildings.
Rescue operations, involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), police, and revenue officials, were launched immediately. Earthmovers were used to clear debris, and one worker was rescued from the rubble and shifted to a hospital.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed shock and directed officials to ensure the best medical treatment for the injured and intensify rescue efforts. Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha visited the site to oversee operations, while Sangareddy District Collector P. Pravinya and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj supervised relief efforts, media reports added.
