5,000-km damaged roads to be repaired by year-end, says Public Works Minister
Haryana Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa stated that repair work on nearly 5,000 km of damaged roads across the state will be completed by the end of the year.
Addressing mediapersons at the PWD rest house in Ambala Cantonment, the minister said, “Potholes on nearly 14,300 km of roads, which were under the Defect Liability Period (DLP), have been filled across the state by the agencies concerned, while the work to repair the damaged roads is underway. Nearly 5,000 km of roads were in poor condition and are being repaired. The roads will be carpeted by the end of this year.”
He added, “In view of the monsoon season, the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department have been instructed to further improve the sewerage system and the Public Works Department has been instructed to repair the drains along the roads so that people do not face any kind of problem during the rainy season. Under the Mahagram Yojana, sewerage facilities are being provided in the villages with a population of more than 10,000. Our departments are working to provide all facilities in the villages on the lines of cities.”
Speaking about the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat programme, Ranbir Gangwa said, “Through the Mann Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister presents new ideas to take the country forward and make India a developed nation. He interacts with the public and we take guidance from him.”
The minister was in Ambala to invite people to the state-level Maharaja Daksh Prajapati Jayanti, to be observed in Bhiwani on July 13. He said that Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini would address the gathering, and several ministers, MLAs and other dignitaries would attend the event.
The minister also highlighted various welfare decisions taken by the government and said, “The BJP government is working for the welfare of all sections of society in the state. Jobs are being given on merit and the backlog in jobs is being filled. Whereas in the previous government, the deserving candidates used to be declared ineligible for government jobs.”
He also held a meeting with party workers and urged them to reach Bhiwani in large numbers to attend the event.
