Singer Inderjeet honoured with Himachal Ratna Samman
Himachali folk sensation Inderjeet was honoured with the Himachal Ratna Samman at the Excellence Iconic Awards-2025, held by Three Finger Entertainment in Dehradun recently. The prestigious award was presented on stage by Bollywood actress Esha Deol, who praised Inderjeet’s role in preserving and promoting the state’s folk heritage.
Inderjeet, 33, hails from Dogri village in Kullu district. Born on March 12, 1992, he launched his musical journey at just 16 with the self-written and self-composed video album ‘Dil Ka Kya Kasoor’. Despite limited resources and no formal training, he tapped into local dialects and traditional melodies, opening a new chapter for Himachali folk long before the digital revolution took hold.
His 2016 single ‘Hade Mere Mamua’ became an instant classic in Himachal Pradesh. Subsequent releases — ‘Laadi Shauni’, ‘Pakhli Maanu’, ‘Budhua Mama’ and ‘Saja Laga Maghe Ra’ — have collectively amassed millions of YouTube views. Beyond entertainment, Inderjeet’s socially conscious tracks such as ‘Mat Kerde Nasha’ (an anti-drug anthem) and ‘Aathrah Kardu’ (a tribute to regional deities) have cemented his reputation as a cultural ambassador.
The singer’s personalised tribute to the late six-time Chief Minister Raja Virbhadra Singh moved the veteran leader to tears, earning accolades from both the Governor and the state’s political leadership. To date, Inderjeet has released over 100 songs and performed on stages across India, and beyond, bringing the “fragrance of Himachal’s soil” to global audiences.
