Bambiha ‘aide’ denies role in murder of gangster Bhagwanpuria’s mother
Mandeep Singh Dhaliwal, who in a social media post had claimed responsibility for the murder of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s mother and cousin, appeared before freelance journalists on YouTube to deny link with the killings.
Dhaliwal, who is currently living in Australia, has been accused of being linked to the Lucky Patial–Davinder Bambiha gang. He has several cases lodged against him, including issuing threats to Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal, and an attack on music producer Bunty Bains.
An old associate of Sidhu Moosewala, Dhaliwal claimed that the singer had no connections with any gangster and wasn’t involved in the murder of Vicky Middukhera.
He said a fake post was circulated by unknown individuals claiming responsibility for the murder of Bhagwanpuria’s mother. Dhaliwal said he had been earlier accused in the Middukhera case as well, but had surrendered to the police to clear his name. “Still, I was falsely implicated in other cases,” he said.
Dhaliwal acknowledged that he had been friends with gangsters Sukhpreet Budda and Lucky Patial since their student days at Panjab University. “I moved to Australia in 2008 and returned in 2013. As a friend, I arranged legal help for Patial in a criminal case. Since then, my name has been associated with him,” he said.
On the night of June 26, Harjit Kaur, mother of gangster Bhagwanpuria, was shot dead in Batala. She was travelling with her nephew Karanvir Singh in an SUV when three men on a motorcycle opened fire on them. Karanvir died on the spot and Harjit Kaur succumbed to her injuries later in the hospital.
Shortly after, a social media account linked to the Davinder Bambiha gang claimed responsibility, stating the attack was revenge for the murder of their associate Gore Bariya, who was killed earlier this year in a gang-related shooting.
According to the Bambiha gang, Karanvir was involved in that murder and was managing operations for the Bhagwanpuria gang. They claimed Harjit Kaur was not the intended target but was caught in the crossfire.
However, Harjit Kaur’s family rejected this version of events. They accused a local MP and a liquor contractor of orchestrating the murder, suggesting it was politically motivated. In protest, the family blocked the Amritsar–Pathankot highway, demanding justice and a thorough investigation.
