Navi Mumbai Accident: Truck Overturns On Ghansoli Flyover, Causing Massive Traffic Jam On Thane-Belapur Road; Visuals Surface

Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai witnessed major traffic congestion on Tuesday morning after a truck overturned on the Ghansoli Flyover along the Thane-Belapur Road, bringing peak-hour movement to a near halt. The incident occurred near the Reliance flyover in Ghansoli, causing a complete blockage of one lane heading towards Thane.

Videos from the scene quickly surfaced on social media, showing the overturned truck sprawled across the flyover, its cargo of large metal sheet rolls scattered dangerously. Heavy-duty cranes were later deployed to lift and remove the vehicle from the road. Navi Mumbai traffic authorities rushed to the site and began efforts to manage the situation and restore traffic flow. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries to the driver or any other commuters.

The traffic jam affected not just Ghansoli but also led to a ripple effect across several adjoining routes in Navi Mumbai, inconveniencing office-goers and school traffic. Commuters reported being stuck in slow-moving traffic for nearly an hour as police and municipal teams worked to clear the flyover.

Engineering Student Booked In Kharghar Accident Case

Meanwhile, in a separate tragic incident, the Kharghar Police booked a 19-year-old engineering student, Tithi Singh, in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on June 18 near Hiranandani Bridge in Kharghar. Singh, a resident of New Panvel, was reportedly driving a high-end Mercedes-Benz car at excessive speed when he rammed into a scooter from behind on the Sion-Panvel Road.

The impact of the collision was devastating. Rekha Yadav, a 50-year-old woman riding pillion, died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Her husband, Gopal Dattu Yadav (54), who was riding the scooter, sustained serious injuries to his legs, arms, and face. He is currently undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital.

Kharghar Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, including charges of reckless driving and causing death by negligence. Authorities have also seized the vehicle involved for forensic analysis.
