20-Year-Old Gets Double Life Sentence For Raping Minor Siblings After Luring Them With Chocolates In MP's Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to two life terms by a special court for sexually assaulting a minor boy and his sister on Tuesday in Gwalior.

Along with the double life imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 and ordered ₹6 lakh in compensation to be given to the two victims.

According to information, the court used video conferencing to allow the children to identify the accused. During the session, both victims clearly recognised Shiva Batham (the man) and said he used to lure them with chocolates and call them to his room.

The court found him guilty under Sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code after considering their statements and other evidence.

The incident took place in 2023. The children’s mother worked as a cleaner at a doctor’s cottage, where Shiva was also staying. He misused the trust and called the children to his room, offering chocolates.

He then committed unnatural acts with the boy and raped the girl.

After the children shared the incident with their mother, she filed a complaint at the University police station. The case was registered on 6 March 2023 under IPC Sections 376, 377, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

After investigation, the police submitted a chargesheet in the district court, which has now delivered the final judgment.
