Two killed in road mishap, another critical

Keonjhar/Champua: Two scooterists were killed while another sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck hit the two-wheeler they were riding near Taduabahal in Keonjhar district Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Niranjan Mallick of Karan Sahi in Bileipada and Jagannath Mahakur of Dampur area.
The critically injured, Muna Mahakur, was shifted from the spot and admitted to the Champua Hospital. He was later moved to the district headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated.
According to police, the mishap occurred when the trio was on their way to Rimuli area from Basudevpur in Joda on a scooter. The truck hit the two-wheeler from the rear and sped away. The impact was so severe that the scooter broke apart.
The driver of the truck fled with the vehicle after the accident, but was caught at Undala- about 35 km from the mishap site- and brought to Champua police station.
Champua police sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched an investigation, IIC RK Muduli said.
