MP July 2 Weather Updates: Yellow Alert Issued For Indore, Gwalior & Other; Downpour Expected In 8 Districts

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a downpour since the arrival of monsoon and similar conditions are forecast for Wednesday.

A heavy to very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for many parts today. Since morning, Bhopal and Narmadapuram have seen continuous heavy rain, leading to waterlogging in several areas.

Weather expected on Wednesday

On Wednesday, a rainfall of up to 8 inches in 24 hours is expected in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mandla, Dindori, and Balaghat.

What do meteorologists say?

According to the Meteorological Department, 18 districts including Ujjain may receive heavy rainfall, while 8 districts could receive extremely heavy rainfall - up to 8 inches in just 24 hours.

Senior Meteorologists explained that a monsoon trough is currently passing over Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, another trough and a low-pressure area are also active, resulting in widespread and intense rainfall.

Districts on red alert for very heavy rainfall:
Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mandla, Dindori, and Balaghat.

Districts likely to receive heavy rainfall:
Bhopal, Ujjain, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Dewas, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Shivpuri, Niwari, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Shahdol, and Anuppur.

Yellow alert has been issued for several other districts, including Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

This weather system is expected to strengthen further and remain active over the next four days. July 5 is expected to see the heaviest rainfall, with alerts issued for 48 districts across the state.

Authorities have advised residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety instructions.

On July 3, a very heavy rain is likely in Singrauli.

There’s a heavy rain alert for Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Guna, Vidisha, Neemuch, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Jabalpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Mandla, and Anuppur.

Whereas, for July 4 an orange alert for very heavy rain in Jabalpur, Damoh, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, and Sidhi.

Heavy rain expected in over 45 districts, including Gwalior, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Dhar, Rajgarh, Harda, Sehore, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, Katni, Maihar, Singrauli, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Morena, and Bhind.
