This actor in photo worked with Salman Khan in Hum Aapke Hain Koun, is now a popular name in…., can you recognise him?
In the unpredictable world of entertainment, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint the formula of stardom. Where one actor becomes an overnight sensation with a single hit, others quickly fade after delivering a successful film. One such similar tale is of an actor who was featured in one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema; however, it wasn’t his contribution in that film that changed his fate, but rather a television show that made him a household name.
Dilip Joshi’s in Salman Khan’s Blockbuster
The actor that we are talking about is none other than Dilip Joshi. Dilip was featured in the iconic blockbuster “Hum Aapke Hain Koun” in a supporting role. The film was released in the year 1994, and he portrayed the role of Ghanashyam. While the film hit gold at the box office and the lead actors enjoyed major stardom, the massive success of the film didn’t get him any further offers.
Unmet Expectations
In a throwback interview, Dilip once revealed that even after working in Hum Aapke Hain Koun, he wasn’t offered any further opportunities in the film industry. He even revealed that he did this film because he was in urgent need of money, and he thought that this film would open more avenues for him. However, that didn’t happen. Dilip also revealed that he has worked with Salman Khan in the film Maine Pyar Kiya.
Jethalal- A Household Name
But despite not receiving the offers that he expected on the big screen, Dilip later went on to become a household name. In 2008, he was cast as the lead in India’s popular television sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He portrayed the role of Jethalal, which garnered him enough love and appreciation, and soon he became a fan favourite. Today, the name Jethalal immediately reminds viewers of his comical mannerisms and unique Gujarati-Hindi humour. Dilip has also appeared in others films in supporting roles like Hun Hunshi Hunshilal, Khiladi 420, Humraaz, What’s Your Raashee?, and more.
Dilip’s journey is a reminder that sometimes, some things do not work out because fate has written better and bigger plans for us.
