Many passengers travelling in trains throw away the leftover food or other things in the train or at the station after eating. This mistake proves costly for the passengers. According to the report, Prayagraj division conducted an intensive checking campaign in the last financial year to provide a better and clean travel experience to the railway passengers.
In this campaign, action was taken against passengers who littered and smoked. A total fine of Rs 32,63,050 was collected from 26,964 passengers. In this, a fine of Rs 31,23,925 was collected from 26,253 passengers who littered and Rs 1,39,125 was collected from 711 passengers who smoked.
According to the railways, the aim of this campaign was to provide passengers with a safe, comfortable and clean travel experience. Prayagraj Division is committed to providing facilities like good food, clean water and clean toilets to the passengers. Also, constant checking is done to prevent ticketless or irregular travel and to keep trains and stations clean.
According to the rules of Indian Railways, littering and smoking in trains or station premises is a serious offense. Passengers doing so can be fined, jailed or punished with both. This campaign was run to make passengers aware and make them follow the rules of the railways. Similar campaigns will continue in the future as well.
