Infosys fires Bengaluru techie nabbed for filming woman inside office toilet in Electronics City

Swapnil Nagesh Mali

After Bengaluru police arrested an Infosys employee for allegedly filming a woman colleague inside a washroom on the company's campus, the tech giant fired the accused on Wednesday.

The accused was identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali, 28, a senior associate at Infosys. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by a woman. The incident occurred on June 30.

In her complaint, the woman revealed that she noticed a reflection on the washroom door and later found a mobile phone popping out from the nearby cubicle.

The woman then climbed the commode and saw Mali standing on the commode in the adjacent cubicle. The accused allegedly removed his trousers while filming the woman, according to The Times of India.

The panicked woman ran out and screamed for help following which her colleagues rushed to her. They stopped Mali from leaving the spot.

The accused's device was seized and brought to the HR personnel, who later deleted the video clips in the phone in front of the victim. Mali reportedly had more than 30 explicit videos, including a recording of another employee and other clips downloaded from the internet.

Police said a screenshot of the video in question was taken as evidence and the original files were deleted. The charges slapped on the accused include BNS Section 77 (Voyeurism) and other sections under the IT Act.
