Uttar Pradesh News: Police Nab Wanted Criminal Anubhav Shukla After Late-Night Encounter In Lucknow's Gomti Nagar
Lucknow: A ₹1 lakh reward-carrying robber, identified as Anubhav Shukla alias Raja from Lakhimpur, was injured in a police encounter in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar area late Tuesday night. Shukla, who has over 30 cases registered against him, had, along with his accomplice, committed three robberies targeting women within 90 minutes on June 28. His accomplice, Brajesh Tiwari, had already been arrested.
The encounter occurred when police on patrol near Gwari intersection spotted a suspicious individual. When asked to stop, he fled on foot and opened fire at the police. In retaliatory firing, Shukla sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was subsequently arrested and admitted to the hospital.
DCP East Shashank Singh stated that during interrogation, Shukla confessed to robbing three women of their chains, earrings, and pendants between 5:00 AM and 6:30 AM on June 28 in Krishna Nagar, Gomti Nagar, and Vikas Nagar.
The police recovered stolen goods, a pistol, cartridges, and an empty shell from him.
The robbers used stolen motorcycles with no number plates for their crimes, traveling from Lakhimpur to commit robberies and then returning. Brajesh Tiwari, who was arrested earlier, revealed Shukla's involvement. Shukla's extensive criminal history led to the ₹1 lakh reward being announced for his capture.
