Chandigarh Administration reclaims 1.5 acres under illegal occupation in Manimajra

The UT Administration today carried out a drive to reclaim government land that had been illegally occupied over time in the Manimajra area.

The land, measuring nearly 38 acres, had been legally acquired by the Administration in 1998. Over the years, nearly 1.5 acres were encroached upon by constructing unauthorised structures.

Following the due process, including issuing statutory notices and providing sufficient time for voluntary vacation, the Administration proceeded with the demolition today.

A total of 10 illegal structures were dismantled during the operation, which was executed under the supervision of the SDM (East). The operation was smooth and no untoward incident was reported. Adequate police deployment was ensured to maintain law and order during the drive.

According to officials, the reclaimed land will now be restored to its intended purpose in line with Chandigarh’s approved development plans.
