Tarn Taran Admn organises medical awareness camp

The district police, in collaboration with the civil administration and Health Department, organised an outreach medical awareness camp under Project “Aas” (Hope) at Goindwal Sahib on Wednesday. The camp was attended by the maximum number of locals along with the village elders, Sarpanches and members of panchayats and the police personnel of Goindwal Sahib sub-division.

Deputy Commissioner Rahul, in his address, outlined the focus on spreading awareness about substance abuse and motivating affected individuals to seek help through OOAT clinics and de-addiction centres.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek said that these camps would continue across the district as public response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive and supportive. He said that during the camp, 35 drug-dependent individuals were identified and have enrolled themselves under the OOAT programme. The SSP called all the police officials to have close contacts with the village elders and the addicts to convince them to take advantage of the move of the administration to go for de-addiction to live an honourable life.
