A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped in Pune by an unidentified man, who gained access to her apartment by posing as a courier delivery executive, on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place in the Kondhwa area around 7.30 pm and the police have launched a manhunt for the accused.

According to reports, the suspect entered the woman’s home when she went inside to check her phone for an OTP and sexually assaulted her.

The victim fell unconscious during the act and police suspect the accused might have used some substance or spray to knock her out.

"The woman does not remember anything (further) as she gained consciousness around 8.30 pm. The woman then informed her relatives and subsequently, police were alerted," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde said.

He said the accused had also clicked a selfie on the victim's phone and left a message on it, warning her not to inform about the crime to anyone as he had taken her pictures and would share them on social media.

Some reports claimed that the man also wrote in the selfie “I will come again”.

The victim, who works in a private firm, was alone in her apartment.

Police are examining the CCTV visuals from the area and have launched a search to nab the suspect.

A case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 64 (punishment for rape), 77 (voyeurism) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
