No Gloves, Filthy Containers... Viral Video Shows Toasts Being Baked In Unhygienic Environment At Jabalpur Factory; Licence Suspended

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Food Safety Department has suspended the food licence of a toast manufacturing unit in Jabalpur on Wednesday. The action followed a viral video which showed the factory workers making dough without gloves and hairnet and using filthy containers.

In the video, food items can be seen kept in unhygienic surroundings, with dust, dirt, and waste clearly visible around the working area. The workers inside the unit are also seen handling food without wearing any protective gloves, aprons, or hairnets.

The video has sparked outrage, as it clearly shows that no hygiene standards are being followed during the food preparation process.

According to information, the suspension was done with immediate effect after the factory was found working in extremely dirty and unhealthy conditions.

The food license of Chawla Industry, near Anaro Complex in Adhartal, Jabalpur.

Food Safety Officer and Registration Authority Devendra Kumar Dubey carried out a surprise inspection at the unit on Tuesday. He said that the factory was producing toast in very unhygienic surroundings.

As a result, its food registration was suspended under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, for failing to follow the cleanliness rules listed in Schedule-4 and the conditions of food registration.

Dubey also confirmed that as per Section 21 of the Food Safety Act, Chawla Industry is completely banned from running any food business during the suspension period.
