Diogo Jota Death: Liverpool & Other Premier League Clubs Offer Condolences To Portugal Player Who Died At 28

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota's sudden demise has left the football world in a state of shock. The Portuguese player, along with his brother Andre Felipe, 25, in a car accident in Zamora, when the Lamborghini they were travelling in went off the road and caught fire.

Jota's club, Liverpool, and other Premier League clubs offered condolences on the death of the footballer. Liverpool in its Instagram post said,

"Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed that the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.

Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support."

Portuguese Football Federation remembers Diogo Jota

The Portuguese football federation said it was "utterly devastated by the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva this morning in Spain. Far beyond being an exceptional player, with nearly 50 caps for the National Team, Diogo Jota was an extraordinary person, respected by all teammates and opponents, someone with a contagious joy and a reference within his own community."

Diogo Jota's success at Liverpool

Jota, who got married on June 28, helped Liverpool win the Premier League last season and also won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Merseyside outfit. He arrived at Anfield from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The forward also made 49 appearances for Portugal, twice winning the UEFA Nations League.
