No officer to leave station during monsoon: Karnal DC
Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, who also serves as chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, has directed all officers and employees in the district to remain present in their respective headquarters and ensure timely arrangements to effectively tackle the issue of waterlogging during the monsoon season.
Singh said that no officer or employee will be allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission and strict action will be taken in case of non-compliance.
“All officers and staff are required to perform their duties diligently. Any negligence will invite action under Section 56 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” he warned.
The directive comes in light of a high-level meeting held by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini with divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners across the state through video conferencing. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that all department heads, officials and employees must remain at their stations and may leave only after prior approval from the DC.
Following these instructions, the DC has directed all district-level officials to stay alert and coordinate closely to ensure effective drainage, emergency response and public safety during the monsoon period.
The district administration has also intensified monitoring of key locations prone to waterlogging and is working with municipal bodies, public health and irrigation departments to maintain proper drainage infrastructure.
